The Benefits Of Spray On Foam Insulation
There are two different types of polyurethane spray foam; open cell spray foam that contains an R-value of 4.21 per inch and closed cell spray foam that has an R-value of 6.9 per inch. Both products are installed by spraying the foam into the desired area. The materials are heated to 130° and pumped at over 1200 psi per side. This mixing at over 2400 psi causes a chemical reaction so the product comes out of the gun in a liquid form, much like a paint, expanding and sealing all cracks and crevices where air infiltration could be an issue. This monolithic application seals all the outside contaminants out and with the proper filtration system your indoor air quality could be 40% better than outside air. Spray foam insulation is the very best insulation product on the market today. It has an incredibly high R-value rating along with low R-curvature as it blocks all air infiltration out, making it the most effective insulation on the market.
MJW Dry Wall spray foamed my attic in 2009 when I was using 600+ gallons of oil per year. A year later, my oil consumption has reduced to 249 gallons of oil. With fuel prices going up, this new insulation will help me to reduce and manage my energy costs for years to come.

Often coupled with an injection foam retrofit, spray on foam insulation is most effectively used to seal attics and other areas where there is exposed wood. The foam expands as it dries, filling in tiny air holes where heat escapes. Spray foam installation is a relatively quick and extremely effective way to cut energy loss in your home. Spray foam insulation also does not deteriorate over time like many other insulations, making it a great long-term choice.
Spray foam insulation is designed for open cavities such as attics and crawlspaces, for retrofitting applications, and all new construction, commercial or residential. Spray foam will stick to all surfaces such as concrete, metal or wood. Closed cell foam at 2 inches will give you a vapor barrier and can also give you up to 300% structural strength. Almost all spray foams today meet Leed and Energy Star standards and have green certified credits as there is a percentage of recycled plastics and soybean or sucrose oil in them. Many of them have green guard certification for indoor air quality standards and testing. Closed cell foam expands 30% of its liquid size and hardens within a minute. Open cell foam expands up to 150 times its liquid size and hardens within a minute. Both types of foam are excellent air barriers, stopping all air infiltration and exfiltration. We could even tell you about the tax rebates you may be eligible for after installing spray on foam insulation in your home. The most important thing you need to know about spray foam insulation is that it will help keep you warmer, and spend up to 60% less money on energy this winter.

Questions & Answers
Does spray foam contain formaldehyde like older foams?
None of our foams contain formaldehyde like the old formulas. They all use polyurethane foam a similar chemical compound to everything that you touch today such as your couch your dashboard in your car the pad underneath your carpet or your mattress.
Does a spray foams deplete the ozone like the older foams?
The foams that we carry use a blowing agent, 245 FA, manufactured by Honeywell. This is a non-ozone depleting blowing agent. Some of our products use water as their blowing agent.
